Head of Development

Edurio is on its way to improve education quality globally and we’re looking for great people to help us grow rapidly! Edurio works with over 1000 schools in the United Kingdom and Latvia. We collaborate with leading academics and Ministries of Education to improve the quality of education across schools. 

As our product is getting wider usage, our development team is faced with an ambitious new goal — we need to scale the existing product, while not slowing down our ability to help our partner schools.

To do that better, we’re looking for a Head of Development to lead a team of 6 developers and scale the team, as Edurio grows.

What would be your responsibilities 

  • Be a technical product owner and a team lead
  • Prioritise and weigh technical and architectural needs and solutions, and communicate these to the product manager
  • Help to set clear goals for the team
  • Establish, promote and maintain processes to ensure work quality and efficiency (sprints, code reviews, test coverage, continuous integration etc.)
  • Design solutions that will be able to scale easily and flexible enough to satisfy changing business requirements
  • Collaborate with our Operations Team to evaluate and recruit new developers.
  • Support the professional development of the team.

What you are likely to have

  • Previous experience leading an engineering team or teams
  • Experience migrating existing solutions to new technologies
  • Experience designing products that can scale based on the demand
  • Good understanding of full development lifecycle
  • A good understanding of the following technologies:
    • Back-end - PHP 7.*, Laravel, Redis, Node.js, Python
    • Front-end - Vue.js 2.x, Bootstrap, SCSS
    • DBMS - MySQL, ElasticSearch
    • Version control - Git, Gitlab
    • Infrastructure environment - AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, ELB, and others), Linux.
