Smarter Surveys, Stronger Insights: Welcoming Our Updated Questions

At Edurio, our mission is simple: we believe in the power of leading through listening. That starts with asking the right questions, and we’re excited to share that our survey questions are getting a refresh as we enter the new academic year.

This transition builds on years of experience and feedback, ensuring that our surveys remain relevant, reliable, and easy to use. With updated questions and stronger frameworks, you’ll gain even clearer insights into staff, pupil, and parent experiences.

Why are we making this change?

Education is evolving, and the questions we ask should evolve with it. Our suite of questions have served schools well, but the new standard improves clarity, consistency, and comparability.

The refreshed design ensures that:

  • Questions are easier to understand and answer – making responses more reliable.
  • Surveys are more consistent across groups – staff, parent, and pupil surveys now follow a stronger common framework.
  • Benchmarks remain valuable – where changes are small, you’ll keep comparability; where questions are entirely new, we’ll introduce fresh national benchmarks later this year.

What’s new in practice?

Not every change is dramatic – many are small but important improvements. For example:

  • Wording is simpler and more precise (e.g. “Moderately” → “Somewhat”).
  • Scales are clearer (all concept-specific questions now follow the same, 5-point scale, from “very” to “not at all”).
  • Opt-out options, like “Not applicable”, make questions more inclusive.

In some cases, entirely new questions replace older ones to capture experiences more accurately. For instance, moving from complex “to what extent” wording to straightforward “How informed do you feel…” phrasing.

These updates make surveys easier for respondents and deliver sharper insights for you.

Benchmarks: continuity and opportunity

We know benchmarks are essential for understanding your results in context. That’s why:

  • Small improvements keep existing benchmarks in place.
  • New questions will receive new national benchmarks in December 2025, once enough schools have adopted them.

These updates make surveys easier for respondents and deliver sharper insights for you. This new and improved suite of questions comes alongside our new and improved survey library.

This means you can keep building on the data you trust today, while looking forward to even stronger comparisons tomorrow.

Looking ahead

For staff surveys, many of the most meaningful changes are already live, with new benchmarks coming later this year. Parent and pupil surveys involve smaller improvements, so you’ll keep almost all benchmarks from day one.

As always, our Customer Survey Specialists will be on hand to guide you through the transition. And with additional resources like our help centre articles, we’ll make sure you feel confident introducing these updates in your organisation.

What this means for you

By modernising our surveys, we’re giving you clearer questions, more consistent data, and benchmarks you can rely on for the future.

We’re excited to see how these changes help you make even stronger, evidence-based decisions for your schools and trusts.
