Leading the Listening Organisation

Kevin Ruck, an expert in evidence-based listening practice and communication, joins Edurio’s Managing Director, Iona Jackson, for an exclusive virtual Book Club on Leading the Listening Organisation. Built for school and trust leaders who want to really listen to their stakeholders.

Tuesday 25 November 2025, 2:00–3:00 pm UK time (1-hour live session)

Most trusts and schools do listen: staffrooms, line-management, open doors. Often, the challenge is turning what you hear into trust-wide decisions, visible actions, and a safer culture to speak up, without adding workload. In 60 minutes, learn how to move from ad-hoc listening to a repeatable cycle that improves retention, wellbeing, and outcomes.

About the book

Leading the Listening Organisation demonstrates why listening to stakeholders is crucial and how to do it effectively. It reveals the practices, processes, and leadership characteristics that create resilient, fair workplaces where people speak up and new ideas flourish, drawing on international research with leaders across 500+ organisations before, during, and after the pandemic. Rich with tools, frameworks, case studies, and implementation guidance, it’s a practical guide for leadership, internal communications, HR, and organisational development professionals.

You’ll take away

  • A simple cycle to turn voice → understanding → action → communication across schools.
  • Leadership mindsets that make speaking up safe (and reduce performative “you said, we did”).
  • Practical moves for trusts and schools: closing the loop, including hard-to-reach voices, and tracking impact.
  • How to use the Edurio Listening Framework to support school improvement priorities, staff retention, and culture.
