Technology and AI in Schools: What Teachers Are Really Experiencing

A free national survey giving school and trust leaders reliable evidence on how technology and AI are affecting teaching, workload and learning.

Technology is moving fast in education. But for most school and trust leaders, the honest picture of what’s working, what’s adding pressure, and where staff genuinely need support is still unclear.

Edurio is running a national research project to fill that gap, and participating gives you that evidence for your own schools, not just the sector.

Schools and trusts can take part by running a short anonymous survey with their teachers this summer term, completely free of charge.

What you will learn from your teachers

This survey gives school and trust leaders a clear, evidence-based picture of how technology and AI are working in their classrooms.

You will gain insight into:

  • Whether technology is helping or adding pressure: are digital tools and AI saving teachers time, or creating new burdens?
  • How technology is being used in teaching and learning: frequency, perceived impact, and where teachers see the most value
  • Where AI is already being used, and what’s holding adoption back: including reliability concerns, safeguarding questions, and the need for clearer guidance
  • Whether teachers and pupils have what they need: gaps in devices, infrastructure and technical reliability that may be affecting learning
  • How well technology is supporting SEND and inclusion: use of assistive technologies and teacher confidence in using them
  • Digital access beyond school: whether pupils have reliable devices for homework and independent learning

These insights can inform your technology strategy, staff development priorities and future investment decisions.

What participating schools and trusts receive

  • A summary of their survey results
  • Insight into key themes emerging from teacher responses

Teacher responses are anonymous, and the survey takes around 15 minutes to complete.
