Platform use and survey builder
Our platform and survey builder are designed for ease and flexibility, whether you want to use our ready-made templates or create your own questions. From quick self-serve options to professionally managed surveys, you have full control over the process.
Yes, you can.
Yes. By using one of our 50+ survey templates or any of your own pre-made templates, you can create and launch your survey in less than 3 minutes.
If you choose to create your own questions, it might take a bit longer.
Self-serve surveys, including those created using our templates, can be ready in minutes. If you’d like the help of an Edurio specialist, our professionally managed survey offer takes longer as we provide additional consultation and features.
The full length depends on the complexity of the project and will be agreed upon with your Edurio specialist when you begin the project.
Trust teams can easily distribute the same survey to any of their schools – all, a few or even just one.
Any question that you use multiple times will have internal benchmarks, while Edurio questions also have national benchmarks available.
DIY tools vs Edurio
While DIY survey tools can work for basic feedback collection, they often fall short when it comes to deeper analysis, benchmarking, and ensuring data quality. Choosing an external partner like Edurio can save you time and increase the impact of your surveys.
While free DIY platforms can be fine for quick, simple surveys, they often lack advanced features for analysing data by demographic, year group, or sub-groups – crucial for larger schools or multi-academy trusts. They also require you to handle question design, data validation, and analysis on your own, which can be time-consuming and prone to errors.
Edurio brings:
- Validated survey templates specifically designed for education.
- Expert guidance on question design to ensure your data is accurate and actionable.
- Benchmarks that let you compare your results with other schools or trusts, as well as measure progress over time.
A DIY approach appears cheaper at first, but consider long-term costs:
- Staff time spent building surveys, following up, and analysing results.
- Risk of low-quality data if questions aren’t optimally designed.
- Limited insights might mean you miss opportunities to address bigger issues.
Edurio can save time and improve data quality, often offsetting the initial investment.
Edurio typically offer:
- Powerful dashboards that organise data by role, year group, or demographic filters.
- Visual reporting features (like word clouds, matrix views, and executive summaries).
- Expert interpretation to help identify strengths and weaknesses quickly.
Yes. Besides providing data, Edurio also offers interpretation support and best-practice tips from other schools and trusts.
This level of guidance often makes the difference between a one-off survey and a tool for continuous improvement.
Edurio offers flexible solutions:
- Self-serve surveys with ready-made templates and quick setup.
- Professionally managed surveys, where our specialists provide custom design, demographic insights, and in-depth analysis.
Results and response rates
With our platform, accessing and analysing your survey results is simple. Use advanced filters, benchmarks, and visual tools to quickly identify key strengths and areas for improvement.
You will see the results directly on the platform. By using our advanced filters, matrix view and other features, you can easily get a comprehensive view of which areas need the most attention.
We also offer the option to purchase a custom results report, which will give you an in-depth analysis of your organisation’s greatest strengths and challenges.
You can easily extract key insights from your results by using our platform’s special features like the matrix view, auto-generated executive summary, demographic filters and benchmarks.
For open questions, our platform will generate a word cloud to help you get a better sense of the key topics highlighted in the answers.
From our experience facilitating Edurio surveys, average response rates are:
- Pupils: 73%
- Staff: 63%
- Governors: 60%
- Parents: 30%
Parents/carers can be one of the most challenging groups to reach. Decide on your desired rate based on how many parents/carers you want to hear from – whether that’s one response per child or separate responses from main carers – and how to handle families with multiple children. We recommend parents complete one survey per child so each child’s unique experience is captured.
Here are some ways to boost responses while your survey is live:
- Communicate the value of the survey and any insights gleaned so far
- Send reminders through multiple channels
- Allow enough time and space for respondents to complete the survey
- Assign ‘survey champions’ for different schools or year groups
- Introduce a friendly competition
- Offer an extra incentive

Costs and time
Our subscription packages give you flexible access to surveys without the need to pay for each survey separately. Whether you’re launching a quick self-serve survey or a professionally managed project, we make the process as easy and efficient as possible.
No. We offer a yearly subscription to either all of our surveys or surveys for one stakeholder group – staff, pupils or parents. If you would like multiple professionally managed surveys (where an Edurio specialist helps you manage the design, launch and analysis), then separate costs apply.
Currently, we offer access to all our surveys with the Edurio Unlimited package or access to all surveys related to one particular stakeholder group with the Edurio HR, Pupil and Parent packages.
If you’re using one of our ready-made templates, launching a survey won’t take much more than a few minutes.
If you’re launching a professionally managed survey that offers richer demographic insights, information about response rates, and other benefits, the process will take longer. However, one of our experienced survey specialists will support and guide you every step of the way.
Data, safety and privacy
Keeping your data safe is our priority. Our surveys are anonymous by design, responses are securely stored, and we never share personal data with third parties.
Edurio results contain no references to an individual respondent (no names, surnames or email addresses) unless you identify yourself in the comments or open-text answers. In addition, our platform hides results from fewer than 3 respondents.
Survey responses are stored as long as needed for our clients and the associated Edurio account remains active. Data retention follows our policies and agreements with clients.
If an account is closed, data may be deleted.
Edurio does not transfer or sell respondent data to third parties. For the purposes of research, statistics and marketing, survey results may be used in an anonymised form.
