How does Edurio work?
Edurio provides an easy-to-use platform for schools and trusts to run surveys, gather meaningful insights, and compare results nationally and across their trust. Schools can choose from over 50 expertly designed survey templates or create their own, ensuring they capture the feedback that matters most.
Schools and trusts can run surveys in a self-serve format or opt for professionally managed surveys with expert support. Surveys can be distributed to staff, pupils, and parents across multiple schools, making it easy to track trends and compare results.
Yes, you can. Edurio allows full flexibility, so you can create your own questions or customise existing templates to fit your needs.
Yes. With Edurio’s 50+ pre-built templates and your own saved templates, you can launch a survey in minutes. If you’re creating custom questions from scratch, it may take a little longer.
Our offer includes professionally managed surveys, where our specialists provide custom design, demographic insights, and in-depth analysis.
Our pupil, parent and staff packs include 1 professionally managed survey per year, while the Edurio Unlimited package includes 3 professionally managed surveys – one per stakeholder group.
On top of that, each customer can reach their customer success manager or survey specialist via email or arrange a call.
You will also have access to support materials, like templates and checklists, to use throughout the survey process, as well as the Edurio Help Centre, which provides quick answers to questions you may have throughout the survey creation process.
Self-serve surveys, including those created using our templates, can be ready in minutes. If you’d like the help of an Edurio specialist, our professionally managed survey offer takes longer as we provide additional consultation and features.
The full timeline depends on the complexity of the project and will be agreed upon with your Edurio specialist at the start.
Trust teams can easily distribute the same survey to any of their schools – all, a few or even just one.
Any question that you use multiple times will have internal benchmarks, while Edurio questions also have national benchmarks available.
DIY tools vs Edurio
Explore how Edurio compares with free DIY survey tools, highlighting the advantages of education-specific benchmarking, expert-designed surveys, and advanced data analysis. This section also examines the hidden costs of DIY approaches, the benefits of Edurio’s support and interpretation services, and how Edurio helps schools and trusts turn survey data into meaningful, actionable insights.
While free survey tools like Google Forms or SurveyMonkey allow basic data collection, they lack education-specific benchmarking, advanced data analysis, and expert-designed question sets. Edurio provides trusted national and internal benchmarks, powerful filtering tools, and expert support, ensuring that your results are reliable, actionable, and easy to interpret—helping schools and trusts make informed decisions with confidence.
While free DIY platforms can be fine for quick, simple surveys, they often lack advanced features for analysing data by demographic, year group, or sub-groups—crucial for larger or multi-school trusts. They also require you to handle question design, data validation, and analysis on your own, which can be time-consuming and prone to errors.
Edurio brings:
- Validated survey templates specifically designed for education.
- Expert guidance on question design to ensure your data is accurate and actionable.
- Benchmarking data that lets you compare your results with other schools or trusts.
This specialised support helps you glean insights that might not be as clear with a DIY approach.
A DIY approach appears cheaper at first, but consider long-term costs:
- Staff time spent building surveys, following up, and analysing results.
- Risk of low-quality data if questions aren’t optimally designed.
- Limited insights that might mean you miss opportunities to address bigger issues.
Edurio can save time and improve data quality, offsetting the initial investment.
We offer:
- Powerful dashboards that organise data by role, year group, or demographic filters.
- Visual reporting features (like word clouds, matrix views, and executive summaries).
- Expert interpretation to help identify strengths and weaknesses quickly.
Yes. Besides providing data, reputable external partners, like Edurio, also offer:
- Interpretation support so you can pinpoint the next steps.
- Best-practice sharing from other schools and trusts.
This level of guidance often makes the difference between a one-off survey and a tool for continuous improvement.
Edurio offers flexible solutions:
- Self-serve surveys with ready-made templates and quick setup.
- Professionally managed surveys, where our specialists provide custom design, demographic insights, and in-depth analysis.
Results and response rates
See how to access, analyse, and compare their survey results using Edurio’s platform, including advanced filtering, benchmarking, and visual reporting tools to gain clear insights and drive improvements.
Survey results are available directly on the Edurio platform, where you can use advanced filters, matrix views, and benchmarking tools to identify key areas for improvement. For deeper analysis, you also have the option to purchase a custom results report, providing an in-depth review of your organisation’s strengths and challenges.
Our platform makes it simple to extract key insights by using features like the matrix view, auto-generated executive summary, demographic filters, and national benchmarks. These tools help you quickly understand trends and compare performance across schools, roles, or stakeholder groups.
At Edurio, we believe that capturing at least half of your stakeholders’ voices is excellent—aiming for a 100% response rate is often unrealistic. Response rates vary by stakeholder group, but based on our data, the average response rates for Edurio-facilitated surveys are:
- Pupils: 73%
- Staff: 63%
- Parents: 30%
For open-ended responses, our platform generates a word cloud to help you quickly identify key themes and topics mentioned in the answers.
Our platform allows you to filter results by various factors, including:
- School characteristics: school phase, region, Ofsted grade, governance, and size.
- Stakeholder demographics: respondent role, year group, age, sex and gender, pupil premium status, FSM eligibility, and attendance rates.
Additionally, you can create custom filters based on your survey results for deeper insights.

Data, security and privacy
Edurio ensures respondent anonymity and secure data storage, maintaining transparency and compliance with data security and privacy standards.

Survey responses are stored for our clients for as long as they are needed, and the associated Edurio account remains active. Data retention follows our policies and agreements with clients.
If an account is closed, data may be deleted.
Edurio does not transfer or sell respondent data to third parties. Survey results may be anonymised for research, statistics, and marketing purposes.
