School benchmarking for data-driven improvement
Compare your school, academy trust or school group’s survey results against the national average and year-on-year trends.
What are benchmarks?
School benchmarking provides meaningful comparisons for your survey data. The benchmarks available on the Edurio platform help you understand how your school, trust or school group is doing over time and compare to the national or internal average.
On the Edurio platform, you can compare:
- Your organisation’s results to the national averages
- Your results to previous surveys within your school, trust or school group
- One school’s results to organisation-wide outcomes
Types of school benchmarking
Edurio offers several school benchmarking options. Each of these can provide unique insights to education leaders and help identify key strengths, the most notable challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
National benchmarks
National benchmarks compile survey results from the schools and trusts we’ve partnered with across England. These benchmarks allow schools, trusts and school groups to compare responses against the national average and put their results in context.
National benchmarks allow you to:
- Compare results to national trends, with separate primary, secondary, and SEND benchmarks available (for select surveys)
- Identify which schools are thriving and apply successful strategies organisation-wide
- See if challenges are specific to your organisation or part of a wider trend.
Historical benchmarks
Historical or year-on-year benchmarks compare your current results to previous survey rounds in your school, trust or school group. They help you see what’s improved and where focus may still be needed within the same context.
Historical benchmarks allow you to:
- Gauge your organisation’s progress over time in different areas, including staff wellbeing and retention, pupil behaviour and safety, as well as parental engagement
- Evaluate if past improvements have been successful
- Plan your strategy for the future
Internal benchmarks
These benchmarks compare one school’s results with the overall results from your trust or school group during the same survey round.
Internal benchmarks allow you to:
- See how each school in a trust or school group is doing, compared to the wider organisation
- Spot if any schools are struggling and need additional support
- Identify and share best practice
With Edurio’s benchmarks, you will gain:
-
Clarity
See how your results compare to national or internal trends and spot strengths and challenges with ease. -
Confidence
Understand whether issues are unique to your setting or part of a wider pattern across the sector. Make decisions knowing you have reliable context. -
Direction
Identify the areas that matter most for improvement, from staff retention to pupil engagement, and use evidence to shape your next steps.
