Staff, pupil and parent survey templates
We’ve developed tailored transition survey templates for two key stakeholder groups – pupils and parents – each focused on understanding their concerns, readiness, and support needs ahead of the next phase of education.
The table below shows the main focus of each stakeholder survey, the number of available questions in the question bank (excluding demographic questions), as well as the average survey completion time.
Survey | Focus area | Question bank | Completion time |
---|---|---|---|
Pupils | Wellbeing, academic/social-emotional readiness, support needed | 13 | 10-15 min |
Parents | Child's wellbeing, readiness, and the support their child may need | 17 | 10-15 min |
Schools and trusts use these surveys to:
- Identify differences in how pupils and parents view upcoming transitions
- Strengthen transition planning and early support strategies
- Build trust and improve communication across your school community
Why listening to both pupils and parents matters
A successful transition doesn’t start on day one – it starts with understanding. By hearing from both pupils and their parents, schools and trusts can:
- Compare experiences and expectations across groups
- Pinpoint where extra guidance or reassurance is needed
- Tailor support for a smoother, more confident start
