The Edurio Effective Local Governance survey will help multi-academy trusts guide their strategy for improving how their local governing bodies operate.
The survey covers a self-audit of local governing body members and school leaders and investigates a range of specific topics that have been highlighted as key to successful systems of governance.
Edurio has helped over 1500 schools in the UK and internationally to analyse stakeholder feedback. We partner with leading school groups and academic institutions to design pupil, parent and staff survey instruments that help school leaders make better decisions.
The survey instrument was designed by Edurio in in collaboration with researchers at UCL Institute of Education, with additional guidance from Trust leaders. The survey instrument is based on research and practitioner interviews and validated with thousands of school staff members to make sure they accurately evaluate the key themes - process efficiency, strategic alignment and governor capabilities.
A clear process of governance is important for ensuring valuable oversight of schools. Clear schemes of delegation are increasingly important as local governing bodies adapt to their role within a multi-academy trust.
Structure and Schemes of delegation
Meetings and workload
An effective governance requires frequent communication between the school leadership team and the local governing body. Ensuring a shared vision of the school's strategic improvement goals is crucial.
To explore ways in which a local governing body might be strengthened, governors are asked to reflect on the capacity and skills of their local governing body to fulfill its core statutory functions.
